A Little of This & That… Renovating, Decorating, DIY Projects & Family

While working on new decorating ideas for the living room, I’ve been playing with creative ways to decorate the mantel. I’ve found great inspiration on Flickr and the like – but keep coming back to two different options. I’d love to hear your thoughts…

A central mirror (this West Elm circular mirror brings in a bit of modern design to an older Spanish home like mine):

Or a cluster of photos in similar frames (I love these black and white shots from our wedding… maybe the mirror is too modern?):

So I’m curious to know, which do you like best?

I like more the first option, I think is more equilibrado* (*not sure how to spell it in english). There’s a composition beacause you are playing with diferents shapes and materials.

    Love your blog Morgan!

    Hi Kasey,
A bit more color is a great idea, I like the idea of adding a vase or flowers. Thanks for your suggestion.
We also had wood paneled walls in our den and I discovered a bright coat of white paint made all the difference! I love my walls now. Best of luck with decorating :).

I love the mantel with the wedding pictures. I’m having the same problem with my mantel. I have a country home so my walls are wood. So i’m having a hard time trying to figure out how to decorate it with brown, wooden walls. The only thing I think you should do, is give your mantel a little color. Maybe some flowers? or a vase? Can’t wait to see it!

P.S. This is my favorite blog, i love how you have so many DIY’s!!
