Closet to Office: Out of the Way, Old Coats!
September 23, 2009
If your home is anything like mine, finding extra space in the house for an office, craft room or supply area is hardly feasible… which is why I’m SO inspired by these fantastic, closet-to-office makeovers, and I hope they might bring a bit of inspiration to your home as you consider whether that art room or extra desk can fit in seamlessly!

Think of all of the great nooks & crannies in your home that could be made over. Closets, for the most part, are underutilized and poorly ordered — pulling everything out and re-alloting your closet space with the correct proportion of shelves, bins and boxes is a Saturday afternoon’s worth of work (but well worth it!). If you’re lucky enough to have an empty closet for ‘your’ space — it’s time to consider what mod wallpaper print you’ll put up, what brilliant paint color you can find and how to finish a quick DIY desk (just one giant shelf with extra supports… but we’ll talk more about that after the jump!) DIY Party Hats! Homemade Fun For Your Next Bash
September 21, 2009
A cute way to incorporate your party colors and theme into personal favors is by making special party hats for each guest! This would be equally fun at a kid’s party as it would an adult dinner party! I’m just picturing all of my guests for my husband’s birthday (which is this Wednesday) sporting these awesome pom hats at the dinner table — it would make a great picture! You can really jazz these up too!

Fabric of the Day: Amy Butler’s Lotus Design
September 20, 2009Today was such a wonderful lazy Sunday… I had much-coveted free time to enjoy the sun, sort & organize a closet in dire need of attention (always fun) and an opportunity to catch up with good friends over a delicious meal. Days where you get to spend your time on what you need or want to do are so very few and far between that when they come along surely it is the marking of a good day!
I came across this beautiful {very classy & modern} pattern this weekend while searching for a fabric for the backdrop of a bookshelf. There’s something about the floral zinneas/lotus that are both retro and tribal at the same time, and the structure of the overall pattern is clean and straight forward — but seeps of that modern, urban loveliness (Anthropologie-esq?). While I have always adored Amy Butler’s incredible feminine designs, this particular cherry wallflower fabric has stuck with me all weekend! I’m opting for a cooler shade of blue that will match my room for the bookcase, but this could happily find a space else where in my home! Check out all of Amy Butler’s FABULOUS designs by visiting her website here.
