Halloween is almost here! If you’re a last-minute decorator (like myself) life will be much easier this year with these simple tissue paper solutions that are crafty and easy! From garland to place cards to sprucing up standard paper lanterns… tissue paper + scissors = quick & clever.

Martha Stewart features these decorating DIYs to try with your little ones or to make yourself before a big event. I’m really loving the bat-winged pumpkin place cards and the {Booo!} paper lanterns!

Celebration Inspiration: Mr. Man Party!
October 19, 2009Christina, from the blog Full House, threw a very neat party to celebrate the 2nd birthday of her triplets! Since all little boys have one goal in life: to grow up and be big boys!, Christina took the idea and ran with it, creating this adorable Mr. Man celebration.
Chocolate lollipop mustaches proved to be a hit with all, and outfits made by Grandma – complete with mini ties (made from Dad’s old ties) – made the boys feel like Mr. Men. A clothesline displaying an assortment of ties and baby pictures adorned the yard in a creative spin on party flags.

Cool Idea for All of the Crafty Entertainers Out There!
October 15, 2009I don’t know about you but I have a few of these folding chairs lying around… ready for guests and parties and everything else that comes our way (actually, now that I think of it, I should really get some more!). When I saw this Before & After from Apartment Therapy, I knew it would resonate with hostesses and DIY decorators alike.
You could always purchase these beautiful Anthropologie folding chairs (at $200 each, see below) to get an equally bohemian and modern look, or you could invest in a few neat fabric remnants, a bit of cushion foam and a staple gun… and have at your own collection! Guests will wow over your results and love the comfy cushions.
{Upholstered Folding Chairs}
p
Time: 1 hour per chair
Cost: $20.00 each, including chair
Tools and Resources:
* Slatted folding chair (thrift stores and World Market are great resources!)
* Fabric scraps
* Foam for seat and 1″ foam for back
* Dacron to cover foam
* Spray adhesive
* Stapler and staples
* Double welt cord or gimp
* Hot glue gun and hot glue
* Scissors
* Pliers to remove staples, if necessary
1. Choose a variety of printed fabrics to use
2. Measure, cut and staple a piece of 1″ foam around the slatted back starting under the bottom rail and going up and over the top and attaching back under the bottom rail
3. Repeat Step 2 with dacron padding
4. Cut a 1 1/2″ or 2″ piece of foam that will fit the seat of the chair. With scissors, cut the sharp corner off the edge of the foam (bevel it) so it will have a soft edge.
