Friday Guest Interview: 6th Street Design School
March 5, 2010
I can’t recall where I first discovered 6th Street Design School but I became a regular follower immediately. Kirsten is an aspiring designer in the very last semester of design school – and she shares creative and fun suggestions for reworking your space on a regular basis.
Her ideas are bright, colorful and inspiring. I’m always motivated to reupholster a bench, find a new rug or hunt down that perfect lampshade after reading Kirsten’s latest post. I can’t wait to see her in action when she graduates and I LOVE my daily dose of 6th Street inspiration.

In her own words: “This blog is a place for me to express my ever-evolving style and to share what I love about Interior Design. I want to document things I love. I call this blog 6th Street Design School because even after I graduate I always want to be a student of Design. I never want to stop learning.”
If Kirsted could be a room, this would be her:

Kirsten’s remodel of her son Jett’s room really caught my eye and I posted on it back in January.
If you love her style as much as I do, you will adore her four answers to PDB’s interview questions as well as wonderful eye-candy from her own home and her inspiration! Read more »

Friday Interview: High-Heeled Foot in the Door!
February 26, 2010Have you ever found a blog that hooked you immediately? The adventures of Camila and her love for interior design did just that for me over at High-Heeled Foot in the Door.
Camila says it best in her blog introduction: “Follow me as I try to make my dreams of entering the design world a reality. Quite literally I’m trying to get my High-Heeled Foot in the door (ok so most days I’m in ballerina flats, but you get the idea). I’m starting my own Interior Decorating company and this blog allows me to let you all in on it. From helping pick out business cards to reading about me second-guessing myself and all the fun in between. Come and stay a while and read about my love for design, random ramblings, and my many steps into becoming my own boss one client and room at a time.”
This New York native shares her fun projects, inspirations and everyday ideas {like these beautiful snippets from her DIY home} while also featuring favorite bloggers in a “day in the life” fashion called In Her Shoes. One of my favorite features!
Camila is one talented & creative chica, and I’m so excited to share her answers to PDB’s four interview questions with you!
Follow the jump for an inside look at her favorite inspirations (you’ll love her office makeover that all started with a Kate Spade skirt), top three trends and simple suggestions for designing a room when starting from scratch! Read more »

Friday Guest Blog Interview: Second City Soiree!
February 19, 2010Today’s Friday Guest Blog interview brings us to the heart of Chicago – and over to the blog of a delightful hostess who shares her favorite tips, tricks and etiquette know-how on a daily basis at Second City Soiree. As an event coordinator with some of Chicago’s major venues, Jen artfully intertwines the expertise of hostessing large celebrations with her love of smaller events at home.
SecondCitySoiree.com was founded in 2008 by Jennifer, a Chicago native who considers the seemingly simple task of “having people over” a fine art (that can be fun, engaging and creative!).
Whether you’re hosting a party, dinner, luncheon, shin-dig, shower, barbecue, tête-à-tête, fiesta, or yes – even a soirée – you’ll find helpful ideas and tid-bits to pull off the perfect event. One of my favorites: how-to videos that share delicious cocktail recipes and even a helpful reminder on how to properly set a place setting (does the bread plate go on the left or right side…)
When not writing and researching for Second City Soiree, Jen authors lifestyle articles for the popular Chicagonista site, a series on Gals’ Guide called First Time Hostess, and features on luxury goods and services for Simply Magnificent – the blog of the Ritz-Carlton Residences on Michigan Avenue.
One of my favorite SCS tablesettings:
Up next, Jen’s clever answers to PDB’s four interview q’s, including three party killer don’ts, the elements to planning your own soiree (and where you can and can’t cut costs) as well as secrets to where Jen finds her SCS inspiration! Read more »
