Favorite Fabric: Dandi Custom Fabrics

March 26, 2010

Here is one of the latest fabrics I’m oohhhing and ahhhing over.

Dandi is a Sydney based design house specializing in the design of modern Australian fabric and tableware. “The Dandi team is a group of trained industrial designers with a passion for beautiful and functional objects. {Their} aim is to share this passion through the creation of a range of modern and unique everyday products.”

I originally discovered their beautiful talent through Decor8 and was immediately drawn to the team’s block print style (one of my personal favorites).

The four leading ladies (pictured below) founded Dandi after meeting in college while studying industrial design. Leezar, Caroline, Mindi and Manuela design and create screen printed fabric and etched bamboo products for the home. While you can purchase pre-made home decor in their shop, you can also buy by the yard here.

I love the colors and I love the prints… I just wonder if they ship to the US? I sure hope so. Beautiful!

PS… I know my usual Friday Guest Blog Series is missing this week! I promise it will be here and back again next Friday – forgive my craziness, but hopefully the wonderful Art of Nesting shower pictures to come on Monday will make up for it!

Rooms Inspired by the Month of March

March 9, 2010

For as long as I can remember I have always associated the month of March with shades of purple… odd, no? If you asked me to describe March I would use ‘eggplant’ and ‘plum’ in my summary. I think it was a memory association game I must have used as a child to help me remember the months of the year and days of the week (for example, in my mind Monday is red and Wednesday is yellow – and I have no idea why).

Anyhow, March is upon us and the first buds of spring are beginning to peek through all around. It’s fresh and enlivening! Just like the color purple.

Back in April I discovered designer Angie Hranowsky while perusing one of my favorite blogs, Ish and Chi (not to worry – soon to be featured as part of PDB’s Friday Interview series).

And guess what? Her entire house exudes shades of lavender, aubergine and violet in the classiest and cleanest of ways.

How beautiful!

Need a bit more inspiration in the lilac realm? Here are a few more rooms to bring out the spring in your home (the last being one of my favorites). Read more »

Friday Interview: High-Heeled Foot in the Door!

February 26, 2010

Have you ever found a blog that hooked you immediately? The adventures of Camila and her love for interior design did just that for me over at High-Heeled Foot in the Door.

Camila says it best in her blog introduction: “Follow me as I try to make my dreams of entering the design world a reality. Quite literally I’m trying to get my High-Heeled Foot in the door (ok so most days I’m in ballerina flats, but you get the idea). I’m starting my own Interior Decorating company and this blog allows me to let you all in on it. From helping pick out business cards to reading about me second-guessing myself and all the fun in between. Come and stay a while and read about my love for design, random ramblings, and my many steps into becoming my own boss one client and room at a time.”

This New York native shares her fun projects, inspirations and everyday ideas {like these beautiful snippets from her DIY home} while also featuring favorite bloggers in a “day in the life” fashion called In Her Shoes. One of my favorite features!

Camila is one talented & creative chica, and I’m so excited to share her answers to PDB’s four interview questions with you!

Follow the jump for an inside look at her favorite inspirations (you’ll love her office makeover that all started with a Kate Spade skirt), top three trends and simple suggestions for designing a room when starting from scratch! Read more »
