Despite the Dreary Weather… Colorful Inspiration!

Inspired by Susan Sergant’s affection for very bright colors (this is one of her patterns above), here are a few cheery room ideas that make even the dreariest of fall days a little brighter. I am not usually so bold as to paint an entire room lime green — but I must admit I’ll be stealing more than a few of these ideas for the house!

This fall, muted colors ‘pale’ in comparison to bright statement choices (I couldn’t help myself) — bold colors abound this season for the wardrobe, throughout party themes and definitely in home decor. If you’re not ready to go all in, try a few accent pieces here or there in a bright and bold hue. How great are the yellow dining room chairs in Jonathan Adler’s design (above) and the brilliantly pink foot stools (next page)?

*Very Pretty* DIY Paper Ornaments

Whether you’re looking for the perfect way to use up left over scrapbooking paper, an easy diy project for the kids or how to add a special handmade touch to the holidays, paper ornaments are fun and easy to make! How lovely are these unique examples and the artists behind them?

Danielle Hamilton features beautiful handmade paper ornaments that are nothing short of inspirational (very top) and Carlos N Molina has the most amazing eye-candy website all about paper projects — which includes templates and how-tos for his globe and stacked ornaments (ornament collage directly above).

Perfect for hanging from the chandelier over the dining room table, stringing as garland in the windows or on the mantel, stacked casually as a dinner party centerpiece, or displayed in a large bowl on the coffee table. Oh yes, you could hang them from the tree, too.

DIY Fabric Roman Shades
November 19, 2009It’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to feature a really awesome DIY project and I couldn’t be MORE excited about this one! Fabric roman shades are classy and beautiful — and they add a bit of pattern and personality into any room. The fabric shades that Coddington Design incorporated into the above living room pull the room together.
Here are three step-by-step DIY projects (from your own old blinds or from scratch) to keep you busy!
You could purchase pre-made shades or even have custom window coverings designed out of your favorite material — but if you have an old set of blinds or roman shades lying around, creating your own can be quick & easy!
