Stencils + Decals = Love

September 1, 2009

Wallpaper Stencils & Decals!

I have a serious soft spot for wall stencils and decals… actually, that hardly sums up the creative {LOVE} that I have for these genius fast and easy wall fixes! Plus, who would have guessed there are so many creative and fabulous ideas out there! Etsy is a treasure trove of home-grown inspiration, but if you’re up for the challenge, making your own isn’t so bad either. What’s even better though? Downloading this poodle stencil courtesy of Elle Decoration South Africa blog!

Decals & Stencils!

While we’re not all meant for the big, bold flower strew across our living room (even I’m solidly disappointed the above branch would not look quite right in my Spanish, 1930′s home entry way…), Real Simple has the stenciling solution for you, too. Check out the rest of the post for more on stenciling… and wall art eye candy! A big thank you to them as well for today’s stencil! Read more »

Easy DIY Patterned Wall Art

August 31, 2009

paperwallart_main2

I love the idea of adding splashes of color and pattern to rooms through DIY wall art that is easy to create and even easier to switch out on a whim. Plus, you can take advantage of scrap material, end cuts of fabric, left over wallpaper and scrapbooking paper designs that you adore! From framed paper (upper left) to fabric ‘upholstered’ blank canvases (upper right), to wallpaper cutouts applied with glue (next page) and repeating pattern designs (next page), the possibilities are endless — and the price tag, very low!

Retro Wallpaper

Amy Butler has released the quintessential dream line of modern fabrics, follow the jump to see a short sample selection (try searching eBay for remnants and amazing prices), and Bradbury & Bradbury launched it’s mod sixties collection that I’m head over heels for! (above)

I made my own version of paper wall art by framing patterned fabric squares that I found pre-cut for quilters (project made even easier!) and a fabulous Pottery Barn remnant from Craigslist. The four inspiration board ideas shown are courtesy of the incredibly inspiring bloggers at The Nest!
