A Pink & Grey Valentine’s Dessert Party
February 7, 2010Amy Atlas recently designed and shared this dessert buffet: the perfect reason to host a Valentine’s Day party for friends & family {how delicious!}. This makes me want to throw on the apron and get to work asap!
Bubble gum pink and grey in a quilted diamond pattern set the tone for Amy’s “Love is the Key to My Heart” table theme. The quilting is repeated in the backdrop, on the key cupcakes and all over the custom paper products (beautiful!).
A macaroon tower, ruffled buttercream cake, strawberry milk served in “Be Mine” glasses, heart cookies and custom chocolate bars are just a few of my favorite confectioneries. Mix in pounds of pink candies (in every shade) and you have the perfect girl’s night, too!
I love the thoughtful details of paper flags in cups of strawberry milk… If you’re planning on a special evening for two, choose your favorite desserts and deliver in a simple to-go box to make your sweetie smile {strawberry milk in thermos optional!}. Amy’s little pink boxes tied with a light grey ribbon make a pretty little delivery package. Read more »

Inspiration for a Valentine’s Dinner at Home
January 31, 2010It’s almost time {two week countdown} for your LBD and that sweet *little date night* called Valentine’s Day. If you’re anything like my husband and me, this day often comes and goes without much ado. Life is too busy, after all, to buy roses and make dinner reservations! But this year I’m changing that. How sweet – sigh – would a romantic dinner at home be? Here’s a little inspiration to lead you in that direction:
{Shabby Chic & Sweet} Tea party-esque Valentine’s Day decor would make for a lovely evening. Wild roses from the garden, vintage plates and a tiered cake stand filled with morsels to share.
{For the Heartfelt Romantics} For those of us who love a little whimsical, dress up your dinner table in layers of fabric, a touch of vintage lace and sweet mini bouquets.
{Contemporary & Bright} Coral pink, blue and yellow make this modern Valentine’s Day table setting special. Incorporate patterned and geometric prints in a homemade menu, table cloth or napkin – white ceramic vases create a clean finish.
And if you still cannot be persuaded that a dinner in may just be the way to go, check back soon for a Romantic Dinner Giveaway to make prep for February 14 easy and pretty!

Event Decor Challenge: {April Bridal Shower}
January 12, 2010I’ve recently received a few requests for custom party decor suggestions and I thought it might be fun to share some of my finds & details here instead of just one-on-one.
{Here’s the breakdown for today’s challenge}
EVENT: Bridal shower in April
THEME: Greens and pinks
BUDGET: $250/25 guests + $8/pp each for brunch, cocktails & dessert (doesn’t include optional rental of tables & chairs)
Neat challenge, especially considering the budget (events can be so costly once you really break them down… added bonus that most showers are hosted by multiple friends or family members and decor $ can be split up accordingly). Here are my final event suggestions for this April Shower (hopefully not the, um, rainy version): Read more »
