Friday Guest Blog Interview: Jenn of HWTM!!
October 9, 2009I must admit that when I first began this blogging adventure it was all due to the inspiration of Jenn from Hostess with the Mostess. I loved her classy, modern approach to entertaining that was very DIY, as well as her fresh & resourceful website that shares so much fabulous inspiration {REAL Parties to this day is still one of my feature favorites!}.
Hostess with the Mostess is an innovative online resource for hip, modern, and unique entertaining ideas. Jenn’s designs and inspirations for party themes are fantastic! Her work is clever, contemporary and out of the ordinary — and her blog helps you to recreate with detailed how-to’s, where-to-buy’s, tips, and advice.
You might just find Jenn on one of the pages of your favorite magazines — she has been featured in Real Simple, Family Circle, InStyle Weddings, Better Homes & Gardens, on the Martha Stewart Show {and oh so much more!} and has designed fabulous celebrity showers and parties. Jenn is truly an entertaining expert!

So it’s only fitting that this incredible and well-accomplished designer be one of our featured Friday Guest Blog Interviews, and it’s with much excitement that I share Jenn’s wonderful answers to PDB’s four questions! Read more »

Sneak Peak: Colorful Candy Buffet
October 3, 2009
I’m so excited about a candy buffet I just finished designing that I thought I’d post a quick sneak peak! All of the pictures with complete How-Tos will be up next week — but here’s a sample of the fun I had!
I mentioned earlier that two friends of ours are hosting a second reception in our local San Diego for guests that couldn’t travel out to the Michigan wedding. The candy buffet will serve as the dessert station for the evening instead of another formal cake — and because the celebration is centered around lawn games and other fun activities, the dessert bar had to be cheerful and bright, too!

Fabric of the Day: Amy Butler’s Lotus Design
September 20, 2009Today was such a wonderful lazy Sunday… I had much-coveted free time to enjoy the sun, sort & organize a closet in dire need of attention (always fun) and an opportunity to catch up with good friends over a delicious meal. Days where you get to spend your time on what you need or want to do are so very few and far between that when they come along surely it is the marking of a good day!
I came across this beautiful {very classy & modern} pattern this weekend while searching for a fabric for the backdrop of a bookshelf. There’s something about the floral zinneas/lotus that are both retro and tribal at the same time, and the structure of the overall pattern is clean and straight forward — but seeps of that modern, urban loveliness (Anthropologie-esq?). While I have always adored Amy Butler’s incredible feminine designs, this particular cherry wallflower fabric has stuck with me all weekend! I’m opting for a cooler shade of blue that will match my room for the bookcase, but this could happily find a space else where in my home! Check out all of Amy Butler’s FABULOUS designs by visiting her website here.
