Dreamy Mother’s Day Inspiration
May 6, 2011Any big plans for Mother’s Day? We’ll have the entire family from both sides in town for Olivia’s baptism on Saturday, so Mother’s Day will likely be a low key brunch at our house.
But if I could plan a Mother’s Day fit for a queen (my mother-in-love and dear momma), this might be perfect:

I’d make cute little labels for the pancakes, mimosas and grapefruit halves:

(feel free to right click and download for a future brunch, wine & cheese party or the like – just add a toothpick, straw or string depending on your food or drink item)
And Kevin might make delicious little silver dollar pancakes.

What a dreamy Mother’s Day this would turn out to be!
(PS it’s my first Mother’s Day – if you count the time the bambino is out of the belly – and I’m so excited to celebrate!)

{Vintage Carnival} Inspiration
August 25, 2010
Designed to offer a vintage spin on a carnival-themed celebration {bright colors, pinwheels, paper rosettes, ribbons…} this party is full of inspiring ideas. The very first thing that caught my eye was the bright pastel colors that adorn everything from the handmade ribbon table runners to the swinging two-sided paper rosettes.
Chris over at Celebrations At Home featured this beautiful Style Me Pretty photoshoot a while back and I loved every detail.

The dessert table is beautiful, and simple treats such as popcorn cones, store bought cookies (just add the custom icing) and covered apples make a delicious spread.
Personalized carnival invites pull the theme together, as do the white ceramic animals and the vintage decor that’s casually mixed in.

The above easy ribbon runner and set of handmade rosettes tops the list for favorite details. I created a similar backdrop and table decor out of paper pinwheels/rosettes for this vintage nesting shower and loved the result – they’re very easy to whip up and always look great!

Vintage Details, Country Accents
August 10, 2010
Thank you everyone for your wonderful feedback on my fabric headboard project! I’m disappointed that I don’t have a *final* picture yet of it in place… the bedroom is still in it’s early stages.
When I found this wedding shoot via Made By Lex I knew I had to share it here. I love the vintage accents and the beautiful details, plus the scenery is from my hometown of Santa Cruz, California.

Alexis of Made By Lex designed the wedding dress (beautiful shoulder detail) and a friend from school looked over much of the styling. The soft colors of plum, peach and pale yellow offers an antique sweetness to the decor and I love love the cowboy boots and feather hair pieces.
I’m inspired by this photoshoot because of how well the different vintage elements come together. Makes me want to pull every mismatched plate and crystal vase out of my cupboards and decorate the dining table with wild flowers, peacock feathers and bunches of herbs.

So lovely! I’d love to use this theme for a baby or bridal shower, girlfriend’s birthday or maybe just a shabby chic tea party outside. How fun to ask everyone to arrive in vintage dresses and cowboy boots…
