Polka Dots, Giraffes & Feathers… Fun Kids Rooms!

November 16, 2009 by Morgan

Kid's Room Inspiration Main

Decorating for children can be so fun — you can be as extravagant and imaginative as you’d like and the room will be appreciated and loved for years to come. Here are a few inspiring ideas from Elle Decor & BHG for adding a little creativity in the world of children.

Kid's Room Inspiration 2

Bright walls and fun fabrics are a must. I love how the above lavender room incorporates brilliantly green bed stands and a complimentary fabric canopy/curtain.

Kid's Room Inspiration Nursery 6

A nursery is an ideal place to add a life size stencil and this giraffe is perfect. I love the lampshade too.

Kid's Room Inpsiration Girl's 4

Pretty in pink — it’s one hundred percent okay to go way overboard with a little girls room, pink boa trimmings and all. There’s too much wonderful inspiration out there! Follow the jump for 8 more fun ideas….

Getting Cozy for the Fall… Knitted Chairs!

November 14, 2009 by Morgan

Knit Chairs 1

Love to knit? Then I’ve got the project for you… cozy up to one of these awesome chairs this fall by taking inspiration from the UK’s Melanie Porter who showcases an entire collection of knitted gloriousness. Oh how I would LOVE to snuggle with a chair like this by the fire!

Decor8 shared this wonderful artist a while back, and I’m beginning to wonder how I might reupholster one of my own chairs with my novice knitting skills?

Knit Chairs Melanie Porter 2

When in doubt, leave it to the pro. In Melanie’s words, “Each project starts with the chair itself – anything from an antique Victorian nursing chair, to a 1970s Egg chair – which is painstakingly stripped back to the frame, before being restored and reupholstered using traditional techniques. This blank canvas is then covered with a series of hand-knitted panels, especially created for each chair.”

Hot cocoa and a good book, anyone?

Friday Guest Blog Interview: A Room Somewhere

November 13, 2009 by Morgan

A Room Somewhere Main

Happy Friday! I’m delighted to bring you Pepper’s featured guest blog interview this week… Leslie of A Room Somewhere!

Leslie shares her fabulous finds — be it design for the home, fashion for the closet or Etsy inspiration for every day living — on a regular basis and her blog serves, quite possibly, as the queen of wonderful giveaways {must check them out!}. Her inspirational style is fresh, clean and polished but it also evokes a wonderful sense of the old and new, and how it can be melded perfectly together. A tour of her home is a sneak peak at how heirloom spoons can share space with a modern parsons chair and silver platters can adorn the same walls that sunburst mirrors claim. I love that. That’s what decorating is all about — that beautiful fusion of what tells your story.

A Room Somewhere 8

Leslie has a lengthy list of guest posts… including My Favorite Things, Petit Elefanta , Tangled & True and Design Mom. This week she took time out of her busy day {a house full of three little ones} to answer PDB’s four questions: Leslie shares her decorating style, favorite tips and how her own design inspiration has circled the map. She has pulled together images to highlight all of this and more… And her work is wonderful!

A Room Somewhere is like a good book — I guarantee you’ll want to come back again & again with a warm cup of coffee and more than a few minutes to read, flip through, comment on and smile at all that Leslie treasures and shares. …
