Wardrobe Style Boards: Christmas Addition!

December 20, 2012

Wow, I am amazed that Christmas has snuck up on me again! I was online last night searching for a couple of last minute gifts for family and was about to check out when I noticed that my shipping charges, to have said gifts here by the 24th, were upwards of $17. I though, surely! not with so much time before Christmas!, but then I glanced at the calendar and laughed at myself for forgetting that the special holiday is just (literally) a few days away! What!? I’m avoiding the mall at all costs but I might not have a choice now…

Ah well, on to prettier topics! Anna Kate and I each put together a Christmas and New Year’s Eve outfit to share with you all for the Wardrobe Style Boards gallery and without further ado, here’s a little Christmas inspiration for you.

AK first.

When Morgan asked me to put together a couple of style boards for Christmas and New Year’s Eve, I knew just what I wanted to do. For me, Christmas Eve is always a little bit crazy. There are gifts to wrap, church services to get to, and so much food to make (What? Not everyone has 50 people over for Christmas Eve dinner??) so I try to keep it simple when it comes to my outfit. I always have to resist the urge to wear red or green, because it’s just too obvious and no one wants to be the girl in church lookin like a Christmas tree! So I usually go with a special black dress and pretty accessories. I added a scarf, tights, and a coat to this outfit because if I’m dressing up, I’m all about staying warm and cozy! And for a festive touch, I will definitely be wearing this grown-up glittery nail polish in the perfect Santa Claus red!

Happy Holidays Everyone!
AK

(PS don’t forget that you can catch all of her lovely style – home and family, too! – over at her blog: Home Away From Home)

Anna Kate and I didn’t share our boards prior to this post, so I was really happy to see that we each took our outfits in different directions. I love her black and mustard combo, and that jacket is amazing.

I was dreaming of a late night Christmas Eve when I imagined this board and what I would wear that could be both pretty and lounge-worthy (for the post-Church gatherings with family and friends or the early dinner that we’ll enjoy together. That plus toddler-chasing. The perfect solution? A beautiful tunic top paired with comfy leggings and satin sparkle flats. Plus accessories that announce that the occasion is indeed special :) . Now if only I could get the below shipped to my casa by the 24th – Amazon Prime, where are you when I need you??

Don’t forget that you can catch all of the wear-to-find and price info for the above over in the actual gallery itself (just click on a board to see the details).

Happy 5-days-to-Christmas!!

Wardrobe Style Boards: Anna Kate’s Fall Favorites

November 20, 2012

So happy to welcome back Anna Kate today, PDB’s very stylish new momma who regularly contributes style boards to our gallery over here. I LOVE the looks that AK has put together for this month, especially the awesome flats and accessories that are adding just that extra little something to each outfit. I must admit that I’m very partial to the oversized grandpa cardigans, skinny cords, wrap around watches and blouses this fall that she’s included, too… you are all getting added to the Christmas list!

Last we left AK, she was 9 months pregnant! and sharing a few of her favorite maternity finds right here.

Mr. Emmett joined her and hubby Ray just a few weeks later, and now momma is adjusting to life with her deliciously handsome little one.

Take it away, Anna Kate.

Since having my little boy 4 months ago, I’ve started to think differently about my wardrobe. I am definitely much more choosy, and tend towards functional (but pretty) basics that I know will last. I have so much less time, energy, and money to spend on myself, so I look for pieces that can be mixed and matched a million different ways. I also look for things that I can wear to work, and to run errands on the weekends. For fall, I’m all about muted colors mixed with girlie accessories.

I tend to live in oatmeal-y brown sweaters at work, and I love the idea of a chunkier, textured version for the weekend. This outfit is simple, and menswear inspired, so I wanted to add fun and girlie accessories. Anthropologie is killing it right now with their flats (aren’t they always!), and I feel like I could wear these with almost everything! I picture them with skirts and dresses for work, skinnies on the weekends, and maybe even something sparkly for a holiday party.

This next outfit would be great for grabbing happy hour drinks with girlfriends. I’m a huge fan of black jeans for fall and winter – they go with EVERYTHING, and always make me feel a little bit edgy and dressed up. I love the pop of pink in this super-flattering top, and get a load of those shoes! So sassy.

Have a happy Tuesday everyone and hope you’re enjoying your Turkey Day prep!

As always, you can find ALL sourcing (including brands, pricing, etc in the style board gallery. Easy peasy.)

Falling For Fall… A Little Inspiration Board

November 13, 2012

It is a crisp but sunny day here in San Diego and I am soaking up our delicious fall weather. Fall has always been my favorite time of the year and especially for the weather right around this time, too. It’s cold enough at night to enjoy slippers and coco (I’ve made myself a mug a couple of times this past week, with marshmallows – I totally recommend it) but still sunny enough during the day to enjoy being outside for a nice walk at lunch or after work.

I’ve been known to pull out fall wear too early in September and October – you can’t wear knee high boots and layers of socks and cowl neck sweaters in San Diego during these months or you will boil. But now we are close! Maybe a couple of weeks away. And to all of you enjoying snow in your parts, insert my jealous grin here :) .

Gold sequin dress, cowboy print, glitter nail laquer, baby fisherman’s cardigan, baby Frida skirt, rocking bird, button bootiesrock lamp base

That baby fisherman’s cardigan is amazing, as are those leather booties! And the cowboy print. Hope you are enjoying your fall!
